Breakfast with a view - Part 3

Breakfast with a view - Part 3

"It's Amanda's birthday on Monday - want to have breakfast at Balmoral with her?" I was asked.

Of course, the answer was yes.

We met at the Bathers Pavillion at 7.15am and were approached immediately by a waiter asking if we'd like coffee - a mind reader! Bathers Pavillion has been around for years and also has a truly wonderful location. About the only problem is that it can be really difficult to get a park in the area, especially on weekends, and the meter took my $2 and turned that into only three quarters of an hour of parking. Ouch!

The trifecta gods were smiling at me as the weather was once again spectacular - although we three were fairly sure that we wouldn't have joined those who were swimming while the weather, while beautiful, wasn't yet up to the expected 24 degrees.

Watching those doing their exercises of swimming, kayaking, running on the sidewalk, walking dogs etc was fairly tiring and so we found that we had all chosen the eggs benedict and couldn't be bothered changing our minds. Ok for me as I am still on leave, but the other two were due at the office after breakfast, so I do hope they managed to get their brains into gear.

Bathers has lovely food which you can enjoy at the cafe, the restaurant, in a private dinning room or takeaway at the small kiosk on the side of the building.

They have a rather cute idea of using what appears to be tea towels as napkins ("Oh, great, they want us to do the dishes!"), but there's nothing cute about our food - it's delicious.

Once the other two had gone off to work I put another $2 in the meter and walked along the Esplanade to enjoy the weather and views. How lucky am I to live in Sydney with all it's little nooks and crannies beside the various water ways with different and inventive eateries? And, of course, to be on leave to enjoy it!

Oh, and the karma? That was me driving home from Balmoral to Waverton, at the tail end of peak hour. This time it was me sitting in almost non-moving lanes of traffic. Should have put another $2 in that meter!
